The BAFTA Awards 2022 was held on Sunday, March 13 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The British Academy honors Best Film and Television and many prestigious Hollywood stars attended the prestigious awards this year. Storming the red carpet this year with her stunning looks was Harry Potter Elm Emma Watson who was also the presenter for the evening.
Rebel Wilson, who hosted the BAFTA Awards this year, gave a hilarious introduction before inviting Watson on stage to present the award. The Australian actress said, “The next award here is to present Emma Watson. She calls herself a feminist, but we all know she is a witch.” While Wilson’s humorous prologue garnered laughter from the audience, Watts made a spectacular comeback.
Going on stage, Emma replied to Wilson, “I’m here for all the witches!” Due to Watson’s remarks, netizens believe that the actress’s ‘ALL witches’ remarks were made by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling amid controversy over his transphobic remarks.
However Emma was not the only one to cast a shadow over Rolling during the awards ceremony. Host Rebel Wills also talked about her weight loss journey during a moment on the show, adding that she has “changed” and is now looking different. To this, she later added, “I hope JK Rowling will still approve.”
Both Wilson and Watson’s excavations on Rolling are in reference to the author’s controversial views on transgender people and in light of her recent tweet on International Women’s Day which was widely criticized online.
